About NPTEL
NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. From March 2014 NPTEL has been offering online certification for its courses, the highlight being the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate form the IITs!
To take this initiative forward and to encourage more students of Rajkiya Engineering College Bijnor to participate in this initiative, Director, Rajkiya Engineering College Bijnor inspired for setting up NPTEL Local Chapter in the college under the NPTEL Nodal centre at IIT Kanpur in Feb. 2018. This local chapter is led by a faculty member of the college, who is single Point of Contact (SPOC) to NPTEL centre at IITK. The aim of this local chapter is to uplift the knowledge/ expertise level of students and faculty members to national/ international level.
As per the new syllabus of AKTU, in accordance with AICTE model curriculum effective from the session 2018-19, A student will be eligible to get Under Graduate degree with Honours only, if he/she completes additional university recommended courses only (Equivalent to 20 credits; NPTEL Courses of 4 Weeks, 8 Weeks and 12 Weeks shall be of 2, 3 and 4 Credits respectively) through MOOCs (Massive open online courses). From now onwards, online courses registration is available at: https://swayam.gov.in

About SWAYAM
The objective of SWAYAM, a program initiated by Government of India, is to take the best teaching learning resources to all. Swayam seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants –
- Video lecture
- Specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed
- Self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and
- An online discussion forum for clearing the doubts. Steps have been taken to enrich the learning experience by using audio-video and multi-media and state of the art pedagogy / technology. In order to ensure that best quality content is produced and delivered, nine National Coordinators have been appointed. They are as follows: AICTE , NPTEL, UGC, CEC, NCERT, NIOS, IGNOU, IIMB, NITTTR
